The Everlasting Candle Shall not be Extinguished

An everlasting candle burns at the gravesite, in pure olive oil, 365 days a year without interruption. Day and night, darkness and light – the light is never extinguished. On the Yahrtzeit, the light of the candle glows even brighter, it expands and increases; it is a holy light, a spark of G-dliness.

Next to the gravesite, only the hearts speak. A feeling of awe overcomes all present; tightly grasping the very soul…One approaches the holy Rabbi Elimelech with tremendous fear and trembling, only after having purified one's heart and thoughts.

Like on Yom Kippur before Ne'ilah when the soul is pure and holy.
The visitors have all made tremendous efforts to come and pray at the holy site in Lizhensk. Their hearts are about to burst from anticipation and hope. The prayers are said, the tears are shed and the silent words rise to the Throne of Glory.

A remarkable, deep bond is formed between the Chassid and the late Rebbe, between the Jew and Rabbi Elimelech – a bond which can never be severed.
